Mark, our proud owner and expert on all things N'awlins, was all too eager to tell us this story on a busy Tuesday evening shortly after opening the deck one night when we asked him, "How did this place really get it's name?" Looking excitedly over the packed dining room he said that the inspiration from a 1986 film starring Richard Gere and Kim Bassinger called "No Mercy".
Maverick Chicago cop Eddie Jillette (Richard Gere) poses as a hit man to meet with someone in from New Orleans looking to have a job done. The result is that both the guy and Jillette's partner wind up very dead, while a stunning blonde (Kim Bassinger) who was in on the setup disappears. He heads south to settle the score and soon finds himself being hunted, with the girl in tow and the local police anything but happy. New Orleans may never be the same again!
In the film, Eddie Jillette ( Richard Gere) spots his only eyewitness, Michel Duvall (Kim Bassinger), dancing in a seedy nightclub wearing a sexy pink dress and tries arresting her. Soon after meeting him, they get deeper into trouble trying to piece together the crime involving her boss. She was so hot and sexy (especially with that tattoo of a Hyacinth (Blue) Parrot on her shoulder) that viewers forgot how bad the movie really was! That how it started!
Just like the film (and more accurately, Kim Bassinger) The Blue Parrot Bar & Grille will bring a smile to your face and put a chuckle in your heart. So come in, relax and tell us your favorite story about luck, life, blues and your travels. An, who knows, maybe you'll see your picture on one of our walls if we catch you having too much of good time!
